In response to a request from the Philippine government, Japan has pledged emergency relief assistance to support those affected by the recent earthquake in Central Philippines. The aid, provided through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), includes tents, blankets, plastic sheets, sleeping pads, portable jerry cans, and water purifiers.
The assistance follows a powerful 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu province on September 30, resulting in 72 deaths, over 6,900 evacuees, and affecting approximately 670,000 people, according to Philippine government data.
Japan expressed hope that the relief goods will help alleviate the suffering of the affected communities.
