Foodpanda marks World Food Day with outreach in Metro Manila

Foodpanda, operated by Delivery Hero Philippines Inc., teamed up with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Philippines and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to mark World Food Day with a series of community outreach efforts across Metro Manila.

In Quezon City, Foodpanda and SOS Philippines provided meals to 500 residents facing hunger through the NGO’s Rescue Kitchen initiative, which turns surplus food into nutritious meals. Foodpanda employees also volunteered to prepare and distribute food to families in Pook Malinis and to Foodpanda riders in the area.

“Together, we’re proving that sustainability and compassion can go hand in hand,” said Bianca Alarcon, executive affairs management officer of SOS Philippines.

In Taguig, Foodpanda supported the BJMP NCR Women’s Dormitory by donating a month’s supply of food packs, hygiene kits, and other essentials. The activity coincided with the BJMP’s National Correctional Consciousness Week, which promotes rehabilitation and reintegration programs for inmates.

Foodpanda’s director for public relations and public affairs, Lew Lopez, said the initiative reflects the company’s mission to use food as a means to foster care and community. “Food doesn’t just fill plates—it builds communities,” he said. “This World Food Day, we wanted to make sure everyone has a seat at the table.”
