The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has issued a public reminder urging the public to be cautious when dealing with individuals or groups misusing the BSP’s name, logo, or the names of its personnel.
In a notice dated May 5, 2025, the BSP warned against an entity using the name “UNA Financing Corporation,” which allegedly used the BSP’s logo and personnel names without authorization.
The legitimate UNA Financing Corporation, registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has issued separate advisories clarifying that it is not connected with the said misrepresentation and that its corporate name was fraudulently used. The BSP and the SEC-registered UNA have agreed to strengthen collaboration to protect the public from fraud and scams.
The BSP said it referred the case to the SEC in June 2025 for verification and investigation and will continue to coordinate with the SEC and other authorities as needed.
The central bank reiterated that it does not solicit money, request personal or financial information, or offer investment opportunities or loans in the course of performing its official functions.
