Globe Telecom reported saving more than P125 million in energy costs in 2024 by using AI and machine learning across its network and facilities.
According to Joel Agustin, senior vice president and head of Service Planning and Engineering, the company’s AI-powered tools are helping reduce electricity use in thousands of cell sites and buildings without affecting service quality. “These AI-driven solutions show that resource efficiency and sustainability go hand-in-hand,” he said.
Globe said the technology allows the system to adjust power consumption in real time—ramping up during high demand and scaling down when traffic is low. The company reported saving over 11.3 million kWh of electricity through a mix of energy management programs and AI deployed in nearly 20,000 network elements nationwide.
AI is also improving energy use in Globe’s buildings through External Digital Demand Response Technology (EDD-RT), which makes cooling systems more efficient and delivers 20 percent to 30 percent annual energy savings.
Globe says these efforts are part of its broader goal to build a greener, more efficient network that benefits both the business and the environment.
