Spain’s green pioneer Grupo Enhol eyes Philipine power push

Spanish renewable energy developer Grupo Enhol is sizing up the Philippines for its next wave of clean-power projects, signaling rising foreign confidence in the country’s shifting energy landscape.

The potential expansion surfaced during a recent investment briefing in Makati City led by Spain’s ambassador to the Philippines Philippe J. Lhuillier, Grupo Enhol officials, and Lanie O. Dormiendo, director of the Board of Investments’ International Investments Promotion Service.

The BOI said the Spanish firm’s interest forms part of its broader Asia-Pacific expansion, though officials offered no specifics on timelines or preferred technologies.

Still, discussions zeroed in on fresh opportunities across the Philippine renewable-energy value chain—from generation and infrastructure to global shared-services support—backed by a suite of government incentives and facilitation programs.

BOI executives reaffirmed their “whole-of-government” commitment to shepherding strategic investments that can accelerate the country’s clean-energy targets and strengthen its push to become a regional hub for innovation and sustainability-driven industries.

Grupo Enhol describes itself as an integrated developer with investments spanning the entire renewable-energy value chain. Its engineering and infrastructure arm supports all phases of construction and project management. The group currently operates in Spain, Guatemala, Albania, and Uzbekistan, with a portfolio anchored in large-scale wind and solar farms.

Also at the Makati meeting were officials from the BOI, the Department of Energy, the Global Capability Center Council Philippines, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue—signaling coordinated government backing as the country courts global green-energy players.
