Opening doors to careers at SM

SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) sharpened its talent playbook as it joined SM Prime Holdings, Inc. in hosting Career Connect, an integrated career fair designed to funnel fresh talent into one of the country’s largest corporate ecosystems.

Held at the SMX Convention Center Manila last month, the event drew 863 applicants eager to engage directly with recruiters from across the SM Group.

Participants spanned SM Prime Holdings, SM Supermalls, SM Engineering Design and Development Corp., SM Development Corp., and SMHCC—an intentional show of scale that positioned SM not just as an employer, but as a long-term career platform.

For SMHCC, the fair doubled as a showcase of its hospitality and events portfolio. Recruiters from Taal Vista Hotel, Conrad Manila, Lanson Place Mall of Asia, Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA, and SMX Convention Center offered roles across hotel operations, conventions management, and guest services—sectors rebounding strongly as travel and live events regain momentum.

Career Connect also leaned into employability beyond hiring. Partners such as BDO, SM Foundation, and LifeSkills PH provided pathways for financial support, training, and scholarships, while manpower agencies helped bridge candidates to immediate placements.

Government agencies including DOLE, PhilHealth, SSS, Pag-IBIG, and PESO Pasay anchored the fair with on-site assistance, reducing friction in the job-matching process.

A key draw was the panel discussion, “Inside SM: Empowering People, Enabling Possibilities,” where HR leaders from across the group unpacked SM’s people-first culture and mapped out realistic growth trajectories within the organization.

“Career Connect reflects what SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation stands for: creating opportunities, investing in people, and building a future-ready hospitality workforce,” said SMHCC Executive Vice President Peggy E. Angeles.

Beyond recruitment numbers, the fair underscored a strategic message: SM is investing early—and collectively—in the talent that will power its next phase of growth.
