Motorists will face another sharp rise in fuel prices starting Tuesday morning, with increases of P1 per liter for gasoline, P2 for diesel, and P1.50 for kerosene.
Fuel firms Seaoil, PTT, and Jetti will implement the hikes at 6:00 a.m., reflecting continued pressure from global oil markets.
Industry officials said the increases are driven by heightened geopolitical tensions that are disrupting oil supply expectations. These include unrest in Iran, instability in Venezuela, and attacks on oil tankers in the Black Sea. Iran, the fourth-largest oil producer in OPEC, is a key concern because any disruption there could affect global supply, especially shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil routes.
The Department of Energy also pointed to the weak peso, which makes imported fuel more expensive, as an added factor pushing prices higher.
With this week’s adjustments, year-to-date fuel prices are now up by P1.20 per liter for gasoline, P2.40 for diesel, and P1.90 for kerosene, underscoring the growing cost burden on consumers.
As of January 13–19, 2026, amfuel prices in Metro Manila average P54.10 per liter for gasoline, P54.40 for diesel, and P78.85 for kerosene.
