Orchestra of the Filipino Youth kicks off 2026 season with Tchaikovsky tribute

The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) opens its 2026 concert season with ELEVATE: Triumphs of Tchaikovsky on February 1, 2026, at the Proscenium Theater, Rockwell. The performance spotlights the nation’s young classical musicians, celebrating their growth, discipline, and artistic excellence.

Led by Maestro Gerard Salonga, the concert features Tchaikovsky’s technically and emotionally demanding works, including the Violin Concerto performed by OFY’s rising star Gavril Tiburcio. A product of OFY’s training programs, 17-year-old Tiburcio has won the NAMCYA 2024 Junior Strings First Prize, performed with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, and represented the Philippines at the Asian Youth Orchestra 2025. His journey exemplifies OFY’s mission to elevate Filipino talent to the world stage.

Since 2012, OFY has nurtured underprivileged yet gifted young musicians through intensive training, mentorship, and international opportunities. “The ELEVATE season celebrates how far our musicians have come and the heights they can reach,” Salonga said.

Tickets are available through Facebook (facebook.com/OFY.ph), Instagram (instagram.com/ofy.ph), and email (info@angmisyon.org).
