Flexible work spaces gain ground as more firms adopt hybrid models

Demand for flexible and hybrid work spaces in the Philippines is continuing to rise, reflecting a broader shift in how and where people work. International Workplace Group (IWG), the world’s largest provider of flexible workspaces, said it will open six new centers in key cities across the country in the first quarter of 2026, underscoring strong market growth and changing workplace needs.

The new locations will bring IWG closer to its goal of opening 29 new sites nationwide and expanding its Philippine network to 76 centers by the end of 2026. The additional centers will offer co-working areas, private offices and meeting rooms, giving companies of all sizes more options for professional workspaces without the need for long-term leases.

The expansion comes as more Filipino organizations adopt hybrid work arrangements. According to a Colliers report, more than eight in ten companies in the Philippines are now using hybrid models, while many are planning to upgrade their workplaces. Industry forecasts suggest that flexible workspaces could account for nearly a third of all commercial real estate by 2030.

IWG said the growing preference for decentralized offices is driving demand not only in major business districts but also in provincial areas. By opening centers closer to where people live, flexible workspaces are helping reduce commuting time, improve work-life balance and support productivity. The company has already signed more than 100 locations in the Philippines, reflecting what it describes as a structural shift away from traditional office setups.

Globally, IWG operates more than 5,000 locations in 121 countries and serves a wide range of clients, including most Fortune 500 companies. Its continued investment in the Philippines highlights the country’s role in the wider trend toward flexible, on-demand work environments that support modern business needs and changing employee expectations.
