Honda CR-V electrifies Philippine SUV market debut

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is pressing harder on the accelerator toward electrified mobility with the local debut of the new Honda CR-V, headlined by the introduction of two full-hybrid e:HEV variants.

The move strengthens Honda’s push to make fuel-efficient, electrified vehicles more accessible in the country—without sacrificing the brand’s trademark performance and refinement.

Unveiled at the Glorietta Palm Drive Activity Center in Makati City, the latest CR-V represents what HCPI calls a major evolution of its flagship SUV. The model blends a more premium, upscale feel with sportier dynamics, aimed squarely at urban professionals, growing families, and weekend adventurers alike.

“That is the New CR-V that we want and made for our customers,” the company said, underscoring its goal to deliver a vehicle that goes “beyond expectations” across daily commutes, business use, and leisure drives.

Anchoring the lineup are the CR-V 2.0 RS e:HEV AWD E-CVT and the CR-V 2.0 VX e:HEV E-CVT, supported by a single gasoline option, the 1.5 V Turbo HuNT CVT. Both hybrids use Honda’s e:HEV system, combining a 2.0-liter direct-injection Atkinson-cycle engine with a dual-motor setup. The electric motors deliver a combined 184PS and 335Nm of torque, prioritizing smooth, responsive acceleration and reduced fuel consumption.

Efficiency figures highlight the strategy. Based on UNR-101 testing, the VX e:HEV posts an impressive 29.4 km/L under urban conditions, while the RS e:HEV AWD delivers 21.3 km/L—strong numbers for a midsize SUV.

To reinforce buyer confidence, HCPI is backing both hybrid variants with an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer battery warranty. The company said this reflects its confidence in hybrid technology and positions the new CR-V as a cornerstone in Honda’s effort to bring electrified driving closer to the Filipino mainstream.
