Coins.ph embraces Google login for passwordless security

Coins.ph has rolled out Google Sign-In across its mobile app and web platform, letting users access accounts without traditional usernames or passwords as the company sharpens its focus on speed and security.

The Philippines-based digital asset exchange and mobile wallet said the move targets millions of users who want faster, simpler logins while navigating an increasingly fragmented digital identity landscape.

By tapping Google’s authentication infrastructure, accounts can be accessed in seconds using existing Google credentials.

The feature is powered by Google Identity Services and relies on OAuth 2.0-based authentication. Coins.ph stressed that user login credentials are neither shared with nor stored by the platform. Instead, identity is confirmed through cryptographically signed assertions issued by Google, replacing conventional password-based access.

According to the company, the passwordless setup delivers a meaningful security upgrade. It helps blunt common attack vectors such as phishing, credential stuffing, and brute-force attempts, while benefiting from Google’s built-in threat detection, device intelligence, and two-factor authentication protections.

Beyond security, Coins.ph framed the update as a usability win. Google Sign-In is designed to reduce password fatigue, cut down on failed logins, and eliminate frequent password resets. Users can also move more smoothly between mobile and web sessions without repeatedly re-entering credentials.

The rollout underscores Coins.ph’s broader push toward a seamless, interoperable identity ecosystem, particularly as digital finance adoption accelerates in the Philippines. By lowering friction at the login stage, the company aims to make crypto, payments, and financial services feel accessible to everyday users locally.

“Our mission has always been to bridge the gap between complex financial technology and everyday Filipinos,” Coins.ph said. “Enabling Google login removes a major barrier to entry while making digital finance more secure and effortless.”
