Lender streamlines bill payments with paperless auto debit platform

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is making bill payments easier through its electronic AutoDebit Arrangement (eADA), a paperless platform that automates recurring payments and helps clients avoid late fees.

With eADA, customers can pay monthly bills directly from their savings or checking accounts without manual transactions. The platform connects to more than 200 billers, including telecommunications companies, utilities, consumer finance firms, insurance providers, and automotive financing companies.

BPI reported strong growth in the service, with the number of enrolled users in 2025 reaching nearly five times the 2024 level. The bank said the shift to digital payments allows clients to focus on other priorities while also supporting sustainability efforts by reducing paper use.

Enrollment is done online through the eADA website. Clients select their biller, enter account details, and log in to their BPI Online account to complete the setup. Once activated, payments are automatically processed every billing cycle.

BPI said security remains a priority, with transactions protected by its digital security systems to safeguard customer information and funds.

Louie Cruz, head of BPI Institutional Banking, said the platform reflects the bank’s push to strengthen its digital ecosystem and provide customers with a simpler, more convenient way to manage recurring payments.
