GCash launches international money transfer feature

GCash has introduced a new service that allows users to send money directly from their e-wallet to bank accounts, cards, and other e-wallets in 16 countries.

The feature, called GCash International Transfers, is now available in destinations including the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada, Singapore, India, and several countries in Europe and the Middle East. The company said it plans to expand coverage further.

Users can send funds in Philippine pesos, while recipients receive the money in their local currency. This removes the need for manual currency conversion and makes transfers easier for both senders and recipients.

The service is aimed at families supporting relatives abroad, as well as small businesses that pay overseas suppliers or services. It is also expected to help with expenses such as allowances, education, and online purchases.

GCash said the new feature addresses common problems in traditional remittance services, such as slow processing times, high fees, and limited tracking. Most transfers are credited on the same day, while transfers to the United States may arrive the next day.

As part of a limited-time offer from March 12 to 31, 2026, users can send money to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman with no fees and no minimum amount.

The company said the launch is part of its effort to make international money transfers faster, more affordable, and more accessible for Filipinos.
