Best Western Subic inks P600M expansion deal

Best Western Plus Hotel Subic is set to expand its footprint in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone after signing a nearly P600-million deal for a new building beside its existing property, boosting capacity amid rising tourism and business demand.

The agreement was formalized on March 31, between the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and developer Simon & Stanley International Trading. The signing was led by SBMA Administrator Eduardo Jose Aliño and hotel Chairman and CEO Jaime Uy at the agency’s Corporate Boardroom.

Architect Jayson Steffen Uy, vice president for Facility and Construction of Savers Group Holdings Inc. (SGHI), said the expansion will add 120 rooms, alongside commercial spaces, restaurants, landscaped parks, and a three-level parking facility.

SGHI is the exclusive developer of Best Western properties in the Philippines and manages the Subic hotel.

Valued at P587.97 million, the project will serve as an extension of the existing four-star property—the first internationally branded hotel in the Freeport. Situated along Dewey Avenue, the hotel is near key commercial hubs such as Harbor Point and SM City Olongapo.

Uy said the expansion is driven by growing demand for rooms, events, and function spaces in Subic. The design phase is expected to conclude by late 2026 or early 2027, with construction targeted to begin in the first quarter of 2027.

Aliño welcomed the investment, citing sustained demand for hospitality developments in the Freeport.
