The Philippine Airlines (PAL) will resume its flights between Manila and Riyadh starting Friday, April 10, 2026, following recent developments in the Middle East.
PAL said passenger and crew safety remains its top priority. As operations restart, some flights will take a temporary alternate route. This includes a short technical stop in Bangkok for refueling. Passengers will stay on board during the stop before continuing to Riyadh.
The airline added it is closely monitoring the situation and will return to normal routes and full capacity once conditions improve. Affected passengers will be informed of any updates.
Meanwhile, PAL earlier announced several route suspensions due to rising jet fuel costs. Flights from Cebu to Guam will stop starting April 16, and Cebu to Ho Chi Minh City flights will be suspended beginning April 19. However, select Cebu–Ho Chi Minh flights on May 1, 3, 24, and 31 will still operate.
Some domestic routes are also affected. Flights from Clark to Siargao (May 4), Cebu to Ozamiz (May 5), and Cebu to Calbayog (May 6) will be suspended until further notice.
Data from the International Air Transport Association shows jet fuel prices have increased by 132.1 percent to $209 per barrel as of April 3 compared to last year.
Due to higher fuel costs, the Civil Aeronautics Board has approved an increase in fuel surcharges from Level 4 to Level 8. Under the new rates, domestic passengers will pay between P253 and P787, while international passengers may pay between P835.05 and P6,208.98, depending on distance.
