SMC Tollways 1Q 2026 profit rises 7% on strong traffic, lower costs

SMC Tollways Corp. reported a 7 percent growth in net income for the first quarter of 2026, reaching P12.62 billion, up from P2.44 billion in the same period last year. Consolidated total revenue rose 4 percent to P5.66 billion, fueled by higher vehicle volume across all expressway networks.

Average daily traffic increased at key facilities: SMC Skyway recorded 286,687 vehicles (up 1 percent), while Skyway Stage 3 saw a 6 percent rise to 184,364 vehicles. Operating expenses dropped significantly by 28 percent to P308.47 million, mainly due to settled tax obligations from a 2025 audit and reduced spending on maintenance, services, and supplies.

These results highlight strong public reliance on SMC’s expressway network, which serves as critical infrastructure connecting major hubs in Luzon—linking the South Luzon Expressway to the North Luzon Expressway. The improved financial performance reflects both growing mobility demand and effective cost management, supporting reliable transport services for commuters and businesses across the region.
