Ayala Land’s Nuvali Estate has become the first commercial business district in the Philippines to secure a BERDE 5-Star Certification under BERDE Districts Version 1.0.0, after its Lakeside and East Bloc districts were recognized by the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC).
The milestone marks the first time districts within an Ayala Land estate have earned the highest BERDE distinction, further cementing Nuvali’s status as one of the country’s leading sustainable and master-planned developments in the CALABARZON region.
Positioned as the “Rising South,” Nuvali serves as Ayala Land’s flagship eco-city and largest estate development in Southern Luzon, integrating sustainability, business, mobility, retail, and lifestyle components into a single master-planned community.
Developed by PHILGBC, BERDE — or Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence — is the country’s green building certification system that measures developments based on environmental performance standards that go beyond existing regulations and mandatory requirements.
“By achieving BERDE certifications in Nuvali, Lakeside Evozone, and East Bloc, the project demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship,” said Rowena Ramos, vice chair of PHILGBC’s board of trustees.
Gilbert Ramos, senior project development manager of Ayala Land Estates Inc., said the recognition reflects the company’s continued push to build sustainable and future-ready communities that generate long-term value for residents and businesses.
Within the 200-hectare Metro Nuvali CBD, the Lakeside District is being expanded as the estate’s leisure and lifestyle hub, with redevelopment works and a new link to Ayala Malls Nuvali targeted for completion by the fourth quarter.
East Bloc, meanwhile, continues to grow into a major business and commercial hub supporting commerce, mobility, and modern urban living in Southern Luzon.
