EastWest Bank names Kristine Romano as new independent director

East West Banking Corp. has appointed Kristine A. Romano as independent director, effective April 23, 2026.

At 42, Romano brings deep expertise in corporate strategy, governance, and financial advisory, gained during senior roles at McKinsey & Company across Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific—including as managing partner and co-leader of its Philippine office. For 2026–2027, she will sit on the bank’s Audit Committee and Corporate Governance & Compliance Committee.

Chairman Jonathan T. Gotianun said her appointment underscores the bank’s commitment to strong governance and oversight, adding her background will help reinforce accountability and support long-term sustainable growth.

Romano also serves as independent director of Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures and a trustee of Asia Society Philippines. A certified public accountant, she earned her magna cum laude degree in Business Administration and Accountancy from the University of the Philippines and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School.
