Globe Telecom is stepping up infrastructure and resiliency upgrades in Aklan and Antique to boost connectivity for residents, businesses, schools, hospitals, and government offices amid the growing digital economy.
The plans were outlined during a recent meeting with Senator Loren Legarda and local officials, forming part of the company’s 2026 strategy. Key goals: better network reliability, wider broadband reach, and stronger systems that stay online during emergencies or service disruptions.
Current Coverage
• Aklan: Over 100 sites cover all 17 municipalities, reaching 72 percent of the population. Malay (Boracay area) has 5G; fiber internet is available in 10 towns.
• Antique: More than 80 sites serve all 18 municipalities, covering 74 percent of residents. San Jose has 5G; fiber service is live in 12 towns.
Globe is expanding fiber-to-home connections to support online learning, remote work, and digital commerce for more households.
Senator Legarda stressed that stable power and internet are key to local progress. She noted coordinated efforts with energy agencies, power providers, and telecom bodies to fix outages and improve infrastructure. Local governments and the DICT also pledged to help expand access, especially in remote areas.
To stay connected during disasters or blackouts, Globe is working with Starlink to add backup connectivity where traditional lines may fail.
These moves align with Globe’s wider push to bring faster, more reliable digital services to more communities across the Philippines.
