PLDT Group and its wireless arm Smart Communications have launched an AI-powered platform called EVE (Emergency Vital Essentials) to help employees and their families prepare for disasters and crises long before they occur.
The new tool generates personalized guidance based on each household’s location, medical needs, mobility requirements, and other specific circumstances. It helps users map out potential risks, create custom emergency plans, set up family communication protocols, and run safety assessments—turning general information into practical, actionable steps.
According to PLDT and Smart cice president Leo A. Gonzales, preparedness starts with advance planning and ensuring people have the right support to protect their loved ones. EVE complements the existing Handa mobile app, which monitors staff safety in real time during emergencies: while Handa supports on-the-ground response, EVE focuses on building readiness ahead of time.
This initiative forms part of the group’s wider efforts to foster a culture of safety and contribute to a more disaster-resilient Philippines.
