AXA Philippines is transforming employee volunteerism into a long-term community development strategy, mobilizing more than 2,000 employees nationwide during this year’s AXA Week for Good (AWFG) while expanding livelihood, sustainability and education initiatives with nonprofit partners.
Carrying the theme “AXA on a Mission: Together We Move Forward,” the 2026 campaign marked a shift from traditional outreach activities toward programs designed to generate lasting economic and social impact.
“When our employees come together, the impact multiplies. This year, we’re investing more into partnerships that can help communities thrive in the long run,” said Sharon Hernandez, Chief Human Resources Officer of AXA Philippines. “We wanted volunteerism to go beyond participation and become part of a sustained journey with our partners through livelihood initiatives, skills sharing, learning, and sustainability programs.”
A centerpiece of this year’s campaign was the launch of “Declutter for a Purpose,” which encouraged employees to sell pre-loved items and channel the proceeds to Medinilla Café in Siniloan, Laguna. The café is a community livelihood enterprise that emerged from AXA’s forest restoration partnership with Fostering Education and Environment for Development Inc. (FEED), with the funds helping sustain operations and create income opportunities for local residents. Unsold items will be donated to partner communities, extending the initiative’s environmental benefits.
AXA also deepened its collaboration with Project PEARLS by supporting community gardens that promote food security while providing families with additional livelihood opportunities.
Employees further participated in an “Impact for Action Podcast Series” featuring discussions on sustainability, disaster preparedness, literacy, workplace safety and the circular economy.
Other activities included an electronic waste collection drive, the “Learning Buddies” literacy program and “Love in Every Bite,” where volunteers shared affordable, nutritious recipes with underserved communities.
As companies increasingly tie corporate social responsibility to measurable outcomes, AXA’s latest initiative reflects a broader shift toward volunteer programs that build skills, strengthen livelihoods and create lasting partnerships rather than one-off charitable events, reinforcing the insurer’s focus on sustainable and inclusive community development.
