The Department of Energy inaugurated Isla LPG Corporation’s new plant in Leganes, Iloilo, which is set to improve LPG supply security across Panay Island and Western Visayas. Built on a 5.4-hectare coastal site, the facility can store 1,400 metric tons of LPG and comes with modern filling, weighing, and safety systems that meet official standards. Energy Secretary Sharon Garin noted that this development brings storage and distribution capacity closer to the region, ensuring steadier deliveries for households, small eateries, and local businesses. It also strengthens the country’s ability to handle supply crunches caused by external factors, while supporting the government’s push to expand energy infrastructure beyond major hubs for better overall resilience.
