The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has issued Administrative Order 2026-34 to attract responsible, climate-smart investments to suitable forest lands. Sustainable projects are projected to generate P38 trillion in value from 2027 to 2052, plus new jobs and livelihoods.
Around 1.18 million hectares across most regions are marked as potential investment areas, expected to yield P4 billion yearly. Agroforestry makes up the largest share, with top sites in Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.
All sites undergo strict assessments and come with full investment details. Existing valid tenures are protected, while harmful developments like landfills or subdivisions are banned. A dedicated online portal and promotion activities will support investor outreach.
