The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) has been recognized by the Bankers Institute of the Philippines (BAIPHIL) as one of its most active member institutions, underscoring the deposit insurer’s support for professional development and a stronger Philippine banking industry.
The recognition was presented during the BAIPHIL Royal Gala, Grand Fellowship and Awards Night on July 16, 2026, at the Makati Shangri-La.
PDIC has actively backed BAIPHIL programs and activities aimed at upgrading banking professionals, deepening collaboration among financial institutions, and promoting higher standards across the industry.
The partnership takes on added importance as banks navigate rapid changes in technology, governance, cybersecurity, and customer expectations. Building a workforce equipped for those shifts is increasingly seen as essential to keeping the financial system resilient.
PDIC Vice President Jose G. Villaret Jr. was also recognized for his contributions to BAIPHIL, particularly as chairperson of the BAIPHIL Week Committee and the BAIPHIL Program and Attendance Committee.
BAIPHIL President Shirley G. Felix, who also serves as vice president and officer-in-charge of the PDIC Receivership and Liquidation Sector, thanked members and institutional partners for supporting the institute’s programs during her message at the event.
Felix highlighted the need to equip banking professionals with future-ready skills that can support innovation, sound governance, and organizational resilience.
For PDIC and BAIPHIL, the collaboration extends beyond training and industry networking. It supports a broader push for a stable, resilient, and inclusive banking system capable of adapting to emerging risks while continuing to serve depositors.
The recognition also highlights how industry cooperation can strengthen the banking sector from the inside out, with professional development helping institutions keep pace with a financial landscape that is becoming more digital, complex, and demanding.
