URC launches Malvar mega plant on its 70th year

Universal Robina Corporation (URC) has inaugurated its Malvar Mega Plant in Batangas, a major step in its growth strategy and a commitment to stronger Philippine manufacturing, as the company marks its 70th anniversary.

“This plant proves our promise to serve generations ahead,” said URC president and CEO Irwin C. Lee, noting the facility took seven years to develop. Chairman Lance Y. Gokongwei called it “a cornerstone for our next growth chapter” and a sign of URC’s drive to innovate alongside Filipino families. Malvar mayor Artemio “Tom” C. Abu welcomed the project as a source of jobs and shared progress for the community.

Built on 31 hectares, the “Factory of the Future” uses advanced automation, digital systems and sustainable design to lift efficiency, quality and safety. Food manufacturing grew 6.2 percent year-on-year in late 2025, leading national industrial growth. The site allows future expansion; it now makes Piattos and Mang Juan snacks, with a bakery and ready-to-drink lines coming soon.

Home to beloved brands like Great Taste, C2 and Cream-O, URC is one of the country’s top food and beverage firms with a growing ASEAN footprint.
