Shell Energy Philippines Inc. (SEPH) has entered a second 15-year power supply agreement with Greenlight Renewables Holdings Inc. via its unit San Isidro Solar Power Corp., securing an additional 120 megawatts peak (MWp) from the second phase of the San Isidro solar power project in Leyte. Announced Tuesday, the new deal follows an earlier 15-year agreement for the project’s first phase, bringing the total solar capacity SEPH will source from Greenlight Renewables to 240 MWp.
This transaction strengthens SEPH’s renewable energy portfolio and expands its power choices for commercial and industrial clients. Both phases of the San Isidro solar facility are now operational: the first came online in October 2025, and the second was energized on July 30, 2026, adding critical renewable generation capacity to the Visayas power grid.
Bernd Krukenberg, SEPH president, noted that the continued partnership with Greenlight underscores a shared goal to deliver renewable energy to customers while supporting the nation’s rising energy demand. Darlene Arguelles, president and CEO of Greenlight Renewables, said the project exemplifies effective collaboration across the energy value chain, describing the relationship with Shell as extending beyond typical business ties. She emphasized the commitment to local community progress and national renewable capacity growth, adding that partnerships between energy suppliers and developers are vital to bringing new power capacity online and diversifying consumer energy options.
Greenlight Renewables is a joint venture between Emerging Power Inc. of Nickel Asia Corp. and Shell Overseas Investments B.V., focused on developing, owning, and operating large-scale renewable energy projects across the Philippines. SEPH serves as the registered retail electricity supplier for Shell companies in the country and plans to distribute the power generated by the San Isidro solar project to its commercial and industrial customer base.
