Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) has added IBM Philippines Country General Manager and Technology Leader Leo L. Capinpin and Vivant Corp. President Emil Andre M. Garcia to its board of trustees, bringing technology and infrastructure experience to the business-led social development group.
Capinpin has spent more than 25 years with IBM and currently oversees business strategy, sales, and technical functions in the Philippines. His experience covers financial services, IT services, and hardware and software infrastructure solutions.
IBM Philippines, a PBSP founding member, has partnered with the organization on education and workforce development programs, including IBM SkillsBuild and P-TECH.
Garcia, meanwhile, will represent PBSP members in the Visayas and chair the organization’s Visayas Regional Committee.
He is president of publicly listed Cebu-based Vivant Corp. and Vivant Energy Corp., overseeing investments and operations in conventional and renewable power generation, electricity distribution, and retail electricity.
Vivant has been a PBSP member since 2009 and has worked with the organization on reforestation projects in Cebu.
Garcia succeeds Jose Antonio “Tonio” Y. Aboitiz, who completed 18 years on the PBSP board representing Davao Light and Power Co. Inc.
PBSP credited Aboitiz with supporting its disaster relief, education, and environmental programs, including the Olango Challenge and rehabilitation efforts for Cebu’s Buhisan Watershed Forest Reserve.
The organization also recognized outgoing IBM representative Aileen Judan-Jiao, who served as a trustee from 2018 to 2026 and previously chaired PBSP’s Human Resources and Retirement Committee.
The board changes expand PBSP’s representation across technology, energy, and regional business sectors as the organization continues working with companies on social development initiatives.
