Maya has completed its shift to 100 percent recycled plastic for all newly produced wallet cards—beating its year-end target—while unveiling the nature-inspired Bukad Card with Filipino artist Raxenne Maniquiz.
Starting June 2026, Maya rolled out cards made from recycled PVC; all new Mastercard and Visa variants now use eco-friendly material without compromising security or durability, marked clearly on the back. “Sustainability must be built into daily operations,” said Maya Group president Shailesh Baidwan. “This makes responsible sourcing standard for products customers use every day.”
The Visa Bukad Card—named for the Filipino term “bukadkad” (blooming flower)—features Maniquiz’s vibrant illustrations of local nature, blending environmental goals with support for homegrown talent. It works worldwide for purchases and ATM use.
A limited-edition matching scarf comes free with the ₱350 card at PURVEYR Fair (World Trade Center, Sept 12–13). The card is also available via the Maya app’s Cards tab from September 9.
The move aligns with Maya’s broader sustainability agenda, including reduced emissions since 2022 and the #MayaSWITCH workplace energy and plastic reduction program.
