EastWest simplifies bank access via app with full digital account opening, credit card applications

EastWest has expanded its EasyWay digital banking app to let Filipinos open savings accounts and apply for credit cards entirely from mobile devices, removing traditional hurdles to accessing financial services.

Since rolling out digital account opening capabilities, 47% of the bank’s new accounts have been created through EasyWay—clear proof of shifting customer preference toward fast, hassle-free onboarding. This trend aligns with broader national adoption of digital finance: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data shows digital payments made up 64.7% of all transactions in 2025, up from 57.4% in 2024, reflecting widespread reliance on mobile and online channels for daily banking needs.

“Customers want to start saving or get credit without disrupting their routine. By integrating these features into EasyWay, we eliminate unnecessary steps so they can act on their financial goals anytime, anywhere,” shared EastWest CEO Jerry G. Ngo.

Eligible users can open new savings accounts using just a valid ID, while existing customers may add peso and foreign currency deposit accounts directly in the app. The platform also handles full credit card applications—from requirements submission to identity verification—all in one place.

With a 4.8-star rating on both Google Play and the Apple App Store, EasyWay centralizes core functions including fund transfers, bill payments and transaction monitoring. As part of EastWest’s digital ecosystem alongside Komo (payments) and ESTA (support), the app reinforces the bank’s phygital strategy: combining digital efficiency with personalized assistance. These latest upgrades solidify its role as a unified, accessible hub for modern banking across the Philippines.
