GCash is expanding access to health insurance by making protection and healthcare plans available directly through its app, targeting Filipinos who may not have employer-sponsored medical coverage.
Through GInsure Health, users can choose products from Oona Insurance and KwikCare covering critical illnesses, hospitalization, consultations, laboratory tests, and outpatient procedures.
The digital offering could be particularly relevant to freelancers, gig workers, and small business owners who typically do not receive company-provided health maintenance organization coverage. GCash users can also enroll eligible family members under available plans.
Oona’s All-in-One Health Plan starts at P48 a month per family member and can cover up to four family members, with coverage of as much as P100,000.
The plan provides a lump-sum cash benefit upon diagnosis of covered critical illnesses, including cancer, stroke, and heart attack. It also includes accidental disability coverage and daily hospital allowances.
For more routine healthcare needs, KwikCare HMO plans start at P995 a month and provide cashless access to more than 2,000 accredited hospitals and clinics nationwide.
Coverage includes doctor consultations, laboratory tests, and inpatient and outpatient procedures, with plan tiers offering maximum benefit limits of up to P350,000. Spouses, children, and parents may also be added as dependents.
Customers can apply through GInsure within the GCash app by selecting a health product, submitting the required information and health declarations, and confirming their application.
The expansion places insurance and healthcare products within a financial platform already used by millions of Filipinos, potentially making health protection easier to access and purchase digitally.
For households facing rising medical costs, the availability of lower-cost plans and digital enrollment offers another option for securing financial protection against unexpected healthcare expenses.
