Richli Water Inc. (RWI), a local water distribution utility, has completed construction of the Bugwak Sevilla Water Treatment Plant in Bohol—a key infrastructure project set to boost the province’s water security and cut reliance on groundwater sources.
According to the company, the new facility draws water from the Bugwak Spring and has a treatment capacity of 1.3 million liters per day (MLD). The project aligns with Bohol’s rapid growth as a rising tourism and investment hub, where dependable water supply is increasingly critical not only for households but also for businesses and long-term development.
The plant was built under a 25-year multi-year contractual authority agreement between RWI and the local government of Sevilla. Project costs were not disclosed.
“Access to safe and reliable water is essential to any growing community. Our partnership with Sevilla allows us to help meet this need while promoting a more sustainable approach to water supply. Through the Bugwak Sevilla Water Treatment Plant, we hope to support the municipality’s growth and contribute to a more water-secure future for Bohol,” said Ralph Miguel Lim, RWI President.
This marks RWI’s fourth major operational water treatment facility. It joins the 14-MLD Malingin plant, the 1.5-MLD Ipil plant, and the 5-MLD Loctob facility run by its subsidiary Loctob Water Inc. RWI provides water services across 11 municipalities and cities in Bohol, including Panglao, Dauis, and Tagbilaran City.
