The Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) and the Automotive Body Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (ABMAP) are teaming up to launch the first Philippine International Truck Show (PITS), providing a dedicated venue for the country’s commercial vehicle and body-building industries.
The inaugural event is scheduled for Oct. 20 to 24 at Hall 1 of the SMX Convention Center Manila, with 15 participating companies, including nine truck and bus brands and six local body builders.
“For the very first time, we’re bringing together the truck and bus industry and the Philippine value-adding sector under one dedicated platform,” TMA President Robert Carlos said.
Carlos said PITS is intended to support commercial vehicle industry growth by strengthening cooperation between manufacturers and body builders while promoting safer, smarter and more sustainable transportation.
The event comes as demand for commercial vehicles expands alongside infrastructure development, logistics growth, urban transport modernization and the continued expansion of small and medium enterprises.
At the same time, the industry is adapting to technological shifts, including electrification, cleaner vehicle technologies, connectivity and fleet management systems. These developments are creating new requirements for commercial vehicle operators and manufacturers.
Carlos emphasized the importance of closer coordination between vehicle manufacturers and local body builders, as trucks and buses often need to be customized according to specific business and operational requirements.
PITS will feature new commercial vehicles, locally developed body applications, fleet solutions and technologies designed to enhance safety, productivity and operational efficiency.
Carlos described trucks and buses as critical to nation-building, citing their role in moving goods, supporting businesses, enabling infrastructure projects and transporting millions of Filipinos.
The organizers said the show will also provide opportunities for industry participants to exchange ideas, develop business partnerships and explore solutions for the evolving Philippine transportation sector.
