Ayala Land’s Vertis North Rain Garden has won two Gold Awards at the NEXT Awards Philippines 2026, recognizing a campaign ll that highlighted the role of nature-based infrastructure in helping cities manage heavier rainfall and flood risks.
The two-hectare Rain Garden forms part of Ayala Land’s 29-hectare Vertis North mixed-use estate in Quezon City. While serving as a public space for exercise, recreation and community activities, it is designed to capture and retain rainwater, reducing the speed and volume of runoff during heavy rains.
The campaign focused on bringing that climate-resilience function to the public through educational content, storytelling and community engagement. It presented the Rain Garden not simply as landscaping, but as infrastructure embedded within an urban development.
Organized by MARKETECH APAC, the NEXT Awards Philippines recognizes campaigns across marketing and technology. This year’s awards were held in Manila in September.
The recognition follows a 2025 citation for the Rain Garden’s stormwater-management role. The Vertis North Estate Association Inc. received an Excellence in Resiliency award at the Quezon City Green Awards.
The Rain Garden has been part of Vertis North since the estate opened, reflecting Ayala Land’s use of nature-based solutions alongside conventional engineered systems.
That approach is gaining relevance as urban districts face greater pressure from intense rainfall, flooding and limited open space. Integrating stormwater retention into publicly accessible areas can allow developments to address resilience needs while preserving spaces for community use.
Vertis North combines residential, office, retail, hotel and leisure developments within a single mixed-use district.
For Ayala Land, the Rain Garden demonstrates how climate adaptation can be incorporated at the estate level—and made visible to the communities that rely on urban spaces during increasingly challenging weather conditions.
