P&A Foundation, PICPA, ACPACI renew SOASP partnership

P&A Foundation, Inc., the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI) have renewed their partnership for the 28th Search for the Outstanding Accounting Students of the Philippines (SOASP), continuing a program aimed at developing the country’s next generation of accountants.

The organizations signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Sept. 15, 2026, at the P&A Grant Thornton Makati office, reaffirming their support for a nationwide platform that recognizes academic excellence, leadership, professional competence and contributions to the accountancy profession.

“For 14 consecutive years, P&A Foundation has supported SOASP in developing a program that tests both the academic knowledge and essential skills of the participants through an innovative and inclusive platform,” P&A Foundation Chairman Romualdo V. Murcia III said.

Murcia, who is also chairman and managing partner of P&A Grant Thornton, said education remains central to the firm’s advocacy, with partnerships with professional organizations and academic institutions helping develop future professionals and strengthen the accountancy profession.

PICPA President Dionisio M. Villeta said the initiative is important in developing future CPAs who uphold accountability, transparency and excellence, reflecting the organization’s theme, “EMPOWER: Elevating the Filipino CPA Towards Ethical Leadership and Global Excellence.”

ACPACI President Marvin Madrigalejo said the partnership would also give students opportunities to sharpen their skills and expand their professional networks.

The 28th SOASP will kick off with a qualifying examination on Feb. 20, 2027. Twenty-five students will advance to the Grand Finals on March 19.

The competition is open to graduating accountancy students in good academic standing from colleges and universities nationwide.

P&A Grant Thornton Vice Chairman and Deputy Managing Partner Atty. Olivier D. Aznar, Tax Advisory & Compliance Partner Edward D. Roguel and Business Process Solutions Practice Leader Elano C. Marcelo also represented the firm at the signing. PICPA’s Bryan K. Riñoza and ACPACI Executive Vice President Marnee Rosales likewise attended.

Further details will be released through P&A Grant Thornton’s official website and social media channels.
