Partners deliver free breast cancer screening in Bulacan

This Teacher’s Month, AIA Philippines, The Medical City, ABS-CBN Foundation, and the DepEd Schools Division of San Jose del Monte launched the Hope Mobi Clinic, offering free breast cancer screening to 100 public school teachers in Bulacan. A formal Memorandum of Understanding signing solidified the partners’ shared goal of bringing breast health care closer to communities.

Teachers received screening right at the mobile clinic, bypassing barriers like cost, travel time, and limited facilities. The program also raises breast health awareness and encourages early consultation—critical because breast cancer is the top diagnosed cancer among Filipino women, with over 28,000 new cases in 2024. It often shows no early symptoms, so easy access to screening helps catch it sooner when treatment works best.

“Teachers spend their lives caring for others; this month, we care for them,” said AIA Philippines President and CEO Melita Teo. “We make screening accessible so they can prioritize their health, too.” ABS-CBN Foundation’s Levi Grace Ambon-Rota added: “Caring for our teachers strengthens the communities they build every day.”

The initiative advances AIA’s mission of healthier lives and supports its whole-wellness campaign. “Early detection changes outcomes,” noted The Medical City’s Dr. Carlo Angelo Cajucom. DepEd’s Merlita Ynciong thanked the group, saying: “Healthy teachers nurture a stronger nation.”

Participants also got free blood tests and grocery packages. Since 2023, Hope Mobi Clinic has brought screening to underserved areas, proving that working together makes vital preventive care reach those who need it most.
