The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has rolled out its Taxpayer Portal to large taxpayers in the regions, expanding digital tax services beyond Metro Manila and giving businesses easier access to government transactions.
BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza said the nationwide expansion fulfills the bureau’s commitment to bring the portal to large taxpayers outside the capital following its initial launch for the Large Taxpayers Service in May.
“When we launched the Taxpayer Portal with the Large Taxpayers Service last May, I said that we would not stop there. Today, we fulfill that promise as we expand the Taxpayer Portal to our large taxpayers in the regions,” Mendoza said during Tuesday’s rollout ceremonies.
He said the BIR spent the months since the initial launch developing, testing and fine-tuning the system ahead of the regional rollout.
The expanded portal is expected to make BIR services more accessible to large businesses outside Metro Manila while reducing the time and effort involved in meeting tax requirements, in line with the Ease of Paying Taxes Act.
Mendoza said the digitalization drive also supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to simplify government transactions and improve access to public services.
The Taxpayer Portal is part of the BIR’s broader modernization push under BIR CARES, which includes initiatives such as the registration seal badge for online businesses, electronic invoicing and other digital tax services.
The bureau is likewise pursuing reforms in tax audits and regulatory processes as it works to improve taxpayer services and strengthen compliance.
Mendoza said the BIR will continue rolling out reforms, with additional digitalization and taxpayer-service initiatives planned through 2027.
