Improvements at the LRT-1 PITX Station are now fully in place, with the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) confirming all upgrades fully implemented as scheduled by the end of the fourth quarter this year. Done in close partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), the project marks a major step forward in making one of the country’s busiest transport hubs easier and more convenient to use.
The upgrades boost ticketing capacity, reorganize station facilities, and smooth out passenger flow at the station, which connects directly to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX). More ticket counters have been added to serve people buying Single Journey Tickets and reloading Stored Value Cards, while ticket-vending machines have been moved to busier spots to give commuters more ways to top up or buy tickets. Turnstile gates have also been rearranged and relocated to cut down on long lines and let people enter and exit more easily. While the permanent changes were underway, LRMC also set up satellite ticket booths and kept an express lane open for SVC users to keep things moving during busy hours.
Beyond the station itself, LRMC is working closely with PITX management to better coordinate operations and make transfers between buses and trains simpler and faster. “Our commitment to our commuters goes beyond providing safe and reliable transport; it is about continuously elevating every aspect of their journey,” said LRMC President and CEO Enrico R. Benipayo. He noted that the company will keep working with government and terminal partners to deliver a travel experience that is seamless, efficient, and comfortable for all passengers.
