VinFast is positioning the Philippines as the first international market for its all-new VF 8 electric SUV, signaling growing ambitions in Southeast Asia’s increasingly competitive electric vehicle (EV) sector.
The Vietnamese automaker opened pre-orders on October 13, ahead of the model’s official launch and initial customer deliveries scheduled for November 2026. The move expands choices in the country’s premium electric SUV segment as motorists weigh alternatives to conventional gasoline-powered vehicles.
Reservations are available through authorized dealerships nationwide until November 5, with non-refundable deposits ranging from P5,000 to P10,000. The first 1,000 customers to reserve during the promotional period will receive a complimentary one-year battery subscription, an incentive that could help ease upfront ownership costs.
The new VF 8 features an upgraded technology platform, enhanced driving capabilities and redesigned interiors, targeting consumers seeking a more premium electric driving experience. VinFast is also offering a seven-year or 160,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and a 10-year or 200,000-kilometer battery warranty.
VinFast Philippines CEO Antonio Zara III attributed the early booking program to strong local interest in the company’s electric vehicle lineup, describing the VF 8 as a premium midsize crossover electric SUV.
However, the model’s commercial prospects will depend on more than its features and promotional offers. Purchase prices, charging convenience, maintenance costs and long-term resale values will remain important considerations for buyers evaluating the transition to electric mobility.
To support adoption, VinFast is working with V-Green and local partners to expand charging infrastructure and after-sales services. These investments could help address persistent concerns about charging access and ownership support, particularly for motorists who lack convenient home-charging options.
By selecting the Philippines for the VF 8’s first overseas rollout, VinFast is making an early bet on the market’s potential. Whether that translates into sustained demand will depend on competitive pricing, reliable service and infrastructure capable of keeping pace with the country’s evolving EV market.
