NLEX Corporation reports the 2-kilometer section linking Mindanao Avenue and Quirino Highway is now 96 percent complete, putting the project on track to open soon.
This elevated expressway serves as a key part of the larger 11.3-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink Project, designed to deliver a safer, more direct route between Quezon City and major destinations across Metro Manila and northern Luzon. Construction teams are now wrapping up final works, including concrete barriers, expansion joints, and the completion of eastbound and westbound ramps at Quirino Highway.
Built as an all-weather facility, the new segment comes fully equipped with CCTV cameras, speed monitoring systems, modern toll collection technology, roadway lighting, and clear traffic markings to keep journeys smooth and secure. It will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, open to all vehicle types, and is projected to carry around 11,000 vehicles every day.
Once open, motorists from Quirino Highway will gain direct access to the main NLEX network, connecting onward to the NLEX Connector toward Manila, the University Belt, and Makati, or heading north toward Central and Northern Luzon. This extra route gives commuters more flexibility and an alternative way to plan their trips.
NLEX president and general manager Luis S. Reñon said the company is moving forward quickly to deliver infrastructure that helps motorists save time and manage expenses amid fluctuating fuel costs. “We want to give motorists greater freedom not only in how they travel, but also in how they spend their time and money,” Reñon said. “While fuel prices and other travel-related costs are beyond our control, we can provide reliable road infrastructure that helps people reach their destinations more efficiently. That is the value we aim to deliver through this project.”
