The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) is providing the province of Pampanga P72 million worth of equipment for the establishment of the provided under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF)- mechanization program.
Disbursed under the third iteration of the Rice Processing System (RPS III), the equipment relates to three units of recirculating dryers with a 12-ton capacity and a multi-stage rice mill with 4 to 5 tons of milling input capacity per hour.
The goal of the RCEF-RPS program is to cut postharvest losses and enhance farmer income through agro-enterprise activities by improving the quality of milled rice and maximizing benefits of rice mechanization by establishing suitable rice processing systems among farmer cooperatives and associations, LGUs in major rice-producing areas in the country.
