Republic Glass Holdings Corp. said Thursday its board has appointed Florence Wong as interim president and chief executive officer of the listed investment holding company, replacing Gerardo Lateral who has suddenly resigned as president, CEO and director.
The company said Laperal has resigned from his current positions and declined his nomination as director of Republic Glass’ board due to personal reasons.
Republic Glass said Wong will serve as president and CEO until the company’s board appoints another person to take the position.
Wong is currently a vice president of the company, and has been with Republic Glass for almost 27 years. She is a Certified Public Accountant and has extensive experience in audit and controllership in various industries. She has master’s degree in business administration from the Ateneo De Manila Graduate School of Business, and earned her Bachelor of Arts (Cum Laude) and Bachelor of Science Degree in accountancy (Cum Laude) from the University of Santo Tomas.
Republic Glass was formed in 1956 to manufacture flat glass but divested from the business in 2001 and has since focused on investing in other business ventures. It has investment in Science Park in the Philippines, a developer of industrial estates through Light Industry & Science Park, RGC Investment Corp., RGC Marine Transport Corp., and Hollington Management Ltd.
