PGEC unit in 10-year energy supply pact with SN Aboitiz

Petro Green Energy Corp. (PGEC) subsidiary San Jose Green Energy Corp. (SJGEC) has signed a 10-year power supply agreement with SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP).

Under the agreement signed last week, SGEC will supply SNAP with 15.6 megawatts of power from its renewable energy facilities set to start operations in 2025.

“This power supply agreement strengthens the viability of our 19.6 MW San Jose solar power project in Nueva Ecija, our first investment in the province. That we are signing this with SNAP with whom we have inked five power supply contracts since 2019 starting with our Tarlac-2 solar project testifies to the continuing mutually beneficial relationship between our companies and our shared commitment to enhancing the country’s energy security through renewable energy,” said Francisco Delfin Jr., PGEC president and chief executive officer, in a statement.

Site development and transmission line works are on-going under the initial 10.1-MW  phase of the solar project targeted for completion by early 2025. The 9.5-MW second phase of the project will be on-line by the fourth quarter next year.

Joseph Yu, SNAP president, said the PGEC project aligns with their mission of providing responsible energy to customers who share the commitment of pushing for sustainability and positive change for the country.

PGEC is a subsidiary of the Yuchengco-led Petro Energy Resources Corp. (PERC).

PERC’s power projects include the 32-MW Maibarara geothermal project in Batangas, the 70-MW Tarlac solar power project as well as the 36-MW phase 1 and 13.2-MW phase 2 wind projects in Aklan.

PERC via PGEC also acquired three new offshore wind blocks from the Department of Energy this year, covering offshore northern Luzon, northern Mindoro and eastern Panay.
