MVP stays as PLDT president, CEO as search for Panlilio replacement continues

Businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan, more popularly referred to as MVP, was again appointed by directors of PLDT as chairman, president and chief executive officer, underscoring the difficulty the country’s largest integrated telecommunications group is having in finding a new president and CEO.

MVP has temporarily stepped into the role of president and CEO earlier this year after Alfredo S. Panlilio, who helped steward PLDT through the COVID-19 pandemic, resigned from the executive positions, effective 31 December 2023.

Last month, MVP said PLDT has narrowed the search to around three candidates to fill the seat of president and CEO, and that a decision could be reached later this year.

Also during the organization meeting of PLDT, Bernido H. Liu, retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Artemio V. Panganiban, and Bernadine T. Siy were appointed to several committees. CJ Panganiban was designated as lead independent director.
