San Miguel Corp. beginning early next year has its hands full pursuing the construction of road projects collectively worth P328.45 billion.
This develops, Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) executive director Alvin Carullo said, even as SMC completes the final engineering design for the P152-billion segment of the Southern Access Link Expressway or the SALEX.
“Hopefully, they will start construction by early next year,” he said.
This segment of the proposed SALEX is a 40.65-kilometer elevated expressway comprising the Shoreline Expressway and three Metro Manila Skyway Stage (MMSS3) extensions as the C3-R10 Extension, Quirino Extension and Buendia Extension projects.
Carullo also said that the construction of the P28.15 billion SLEX TR5, Segment 1 is expected to start by next year.
SLEX TR5, Segment 1 alignment starts at the termination point of the SLEX Phase II as the Toll Road 4 (TR4) Project at Brgy. Mayao, Lucena City, Quezon and ends at Gumaca, Quezon.
The total length of Segment 1 is approximately 61 kilometers. It will include four interchanges at Pagbilao, Atimonan, Agdangan and Gumaca as well as the toll plazas and operations center that will be necessary for its completion.
The P148.30-billion double segment Northern Access Link Expressway (NALEX) on the other hand, is targeted to start by the fourth quarter of 2024.
NALEX Phase 1 is a proposed 136.4-kilometer road providing connectivity between the Metro/Mega Manila, the New Manila International Airport (NMIA) and Central Luzon as an extension and/or linkage of the Metro Manila Skyway-Stage 3 at Balintawak.
NALEX, Phase 2 is a demand-driven expansion from Masantol, Pampanga to Tarlac City.
SMC’s expressways include the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), the Skyway System and the NAIA Expressway (NAIAX).
