Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) subsidiary MSpectrum Inc., has partnered with the local unit of US-based Excelitas Technologies Corp. in a solar rooftop project in Laguna.
Under the agreement, MSpectrum will install a 116-kilowatt-peak solar unit at Excelitas Technologies Philippines Inc.’s manufacturing facility in Cabuyao.
Targeted for completion by December this year, the project will cut Excelitas’ carbon footprint by an estimated 118.2 metric tons.
Excelitas Technologies Corp. is an industrial technology manufacturer of photonic solutions meeting the illumination, optical, optronic, sensing, detection and imaging needs of customers worldwide.
“Partnering with MSpectrum is a step in the right direction as we do our part in harnessing the benefits of renewable energy. We look forward to doing more in the future,” said Enrique Sonoy, Jr., Excelitas Technologies Philippines senior director of operations, in a statement.
MSpectrum in December last year planned to secure as much as 30 megawatts worth of new projects this year.
MSpectrum has installed commercial and industrial solar power generation units in companies including Philip Morris, Toyota, Ajinomoto, Vista Malls, Robinsons, Pilipinas Shell, S&R, Puregold, PLDT and Afficionado, among others.
MSpectrum’s solar rooftop installations aggregate 70 megawatts as of June 2024. Commercial and industrial clients account for 98 percent of the installed capacity, mostly in Luzon.
