AirAsia ramps up competition with domestic flights costing only P1

AirAsia Philippines is offering promotional fares as low as P1 for domestic flights to encourage optimal air travel in the run up to the long Christmas festivities in the country.

The budget airline said the P1 one-way base fare for flights to Bacolod, Cagayan De Oro, Caticlan (Boracay), Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, Roxas City, Tacloban, and Tagbilaran will be available until 8 September this year.

Seats for international destinations like Macau are also offered as low as P511 and only P1,811 for flights as far as Tokyo.

The PISO Sale, as the event is known, is available for travels from 17 February 2025 until 31 January 2026.

“The Ber month signifies the beginning of the culmination of the year. While others have already booked their year-end holiday travels courtesy of our double-digit seasonal sales, this month’s Piso Sale is perfect for guests who are already planning their long vacations next year,” Ricky Isla, AirAsia Philippines chief executive, said.

“We encourage our guests to take advantage of the ongoing PISO Sale and plan their trips ahead as this will not only help them save money but will also allow them to maximize each schedule, giving them the opportunity to enjoy and create memories,” he added.

AirAsia Philippines earlier started domestic flights out of its Clark (to Boracay) and Cebu (to Boracay, Davao, and Puerto Princesa) hubs.

AirAsia also advises guests to maximize baggage allowance when traveling. For guests planning to bring souvenirs from their trips, AirAsia’s baggage allowance can be upgraded up to 60 kilograms for maximum convenience.

The airline also reminds guests of the strict implementation of its cabin baggage policy which limits hand carry bags to just two – one small bag or laptop bag and a luggage which must total 7 kilograms only.

The airline flies to 12 domestic and 13 international destinations as of April 2024. It was launched as the fourth airline operations center (AOC) of the AirAsia group in 2012.
