Kaspersky, a global leader in cybersecurity, has issued a warning for Filipinos to enhance their online security as the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) marks the official start of the 2025 election season.
Adrian Hia, managing director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky, said both candidates and ordinary citizens face heightened risks from cybercriminals aiming to exploit sensitive data. “Elections are not only a concern for candidates but also for the public, who may fall victim to attacks designed to spread misinformation and influence voter opinions,” Hia said.
As the election period unfolds, Kaspersky highlights key threats, including phishing attacks, social media data breaches, and misinformation campaigns. They advise individuals to remain vigilant, verify sources, and protect personal information online.
Kaspersky also outlines cybersecurity strategies for both organizations and individuals, emphasizing the importance of software updates, data backups, and employee education on cyber threats. With election-related cyber risks on the rise, Kaspersky aims to help users safeguard against potential attacks during this critical time.
