The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) underscored the importance of data and innovative tools for evidence-based policymaking during the closing ceremony of the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) held online on October 29, 2024. Themed “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation,” the event featured BSP Deputy Governor Francisco G. Dakila, Jr., who emphasized the need for a transformative mindset in a digitally empowered society.

“This resonates well with the BSP’s commitment to go ‘digitALL’, as it upgrades its systems to produce quality data and provide relevant information for our stakeholders,” Dakila stated on behalf of BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr.
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa also highlighted the significance of data-driven decisions in fostering national prosperity and equity. Experts discussed various topics including international reserves, real property price factors, digital payment trends, and the Philippines’ financial health index.
Since 2001, the BSP has led the NSM closing ceremony, reinforcing its commitment to promoting accurate and accessible statistical information nationwide. Celebrated every October, the NSM aims to raise awareness about the value of statistics and encourage public cooperation in enhancing the quality of national data.
