AirAsia Philippines has surpassed its 2023 passenger performance, reporting a total of 6.6 million travelers as of November 2024. The airline credits the ongoing surge in holiday travel for the strong performance, with demand expected to peak in December.
As of mid-November, AirAsia has already booked 89 percent of its total seat sales for the year, a 6 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This growth comes after the airline carried more than 5 million passengers in 2023, with a notable uptick in both domestic and international travel.
Looking ahead, AirAsia Philippines is on track to meet its ambitious goal of carrying 8 million passengers this year, having already achieved 79 percent of that target. The company attributes this growth to the seasonal influx of provincial homecomings and the rising popularity of leisure travel, especially as the holiday season approaches.
The airline’s recent Piso sale, which ran from 4 to 10 November, sold 165,000 seats. Cebu emerged as the most-booked domestic destination, while Taipei led international bookings. Overall, Boracay remains the top destination for between November and December.
“With the busiest holiday season just around the corner, we are optimistic about reaching our passenger goal for 2024,” said Steve Dailisan, head of communications and public affairs and first officer at AirAsia Philippines. “We’re seeing strong demand across both domestic and international routes, and we remain committed to delivering an exceptional travel experience that makes AirAsia the airline of choice.”
AirAsia Philippines currently operates flights to 12 domestic destinations and 13 international destinations, with more growth expected in the coming months.
