SEC wins Overseas Employer of the Year at IiP Awards

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been named Overseas Employer of the Year by Investors in People (IiP), a prestigious international standard-setting body. The award, presented at a ceremony in London, highlights the SEC’s commitment to employee growth and wellbeing through initiatives such as capacity-building programs, transparent communication, and innovative human resource practices.

The SEC was recognized alongside other nominees, including Cyprus’ Costas Papaellinas Organization and the Philippines’ Rua Seguridad Corp. IiP honors organizations worldwide for creating environments where employees can thrive, with categories ranging from best apprenticeship programs to leadership and diversity.

SEC chairman Emilio B. Aquino expressed pride in the recognition, emphasizing the agency’s focus on employee welfare as integral to its mission. “We cannot transform the Philippine corporate sector and capital market without investing in our most valuable asset—our people,” Aquino said, referring to the SEC’s vision under its SuperVision 2028 initiative.

The recognition follows the SEC’s accreditation earlier this year by IiP, making it the first government financial sector agency in the Philippines to earn the distinction. In September, IiP Philippines also awarded the SEC the People Investor of the Year – Special Citation for fostering a supportive and rewarding workplace.
